Complete – Hoogie Boogie Land   no comments

I don’t care what any of you think, ‘Hoogie Boogie Land’ by Complete is the definitive sound of a generation.

Complete are a 4-piece from Fort Worth, Texas who took the world by storm in the 1990’s with their off-kilter one-chord masterpieces. ‘Hoogie Boogie Land’ is considered their magnus opus by all sane brained individuals.

I just can’t begin to describe how the shredded, out of tune guitars affect my soul man. Everytime I watch this performance it makes me feel more alive.

The lyrics are simply phenomenal.

“In Hoogie Boogie Land, there is no war, there is no hate, can you all relate?”

The unfortunate thing for the audience is that they will never be able to relate to the greatness of Hoogie Boogie Land.  This imaginary land was probably dreamed up by one of the band members at the peak of a PCP trip.  The lead singer undoubtedly draws out Tolkienesque maps of the place in his sleep.

What the hell is with the guitarist and his Dr Suess hat? Rock critics would have us believe that Led Zeppelin were the most mysterious band of the last 50 years. Bull. They obviously haven’t seen complete.
